The reproduction is based on Bilibin’s illustration to the fairy tale Vasilisa the Beautiful.

In Slavic folklore, Baba Yaga is one of the most famous and mysterious witch figures. She lives deep in the forest and appears in many old tales as a dangerous, magical, and unpredictable being. Because of that, this image is closely tied to folk magic, dark fairy tales, and the strange world of Slavic legend.
