Medea — in ancient Greek mythology, a princess from the country of Eeta, the West Georgian kingdom of Colchis, a sorceress, the legendary founder of medicine and beloved argonaut Jason.
Having fallen in love with Jason, she helped him take possession of the golden Fleece, killed her own brother and fled with the Argonauts from Colchis to Greece. When her lover later decided to marry another, Medea ruined her rival, killed her two children by Jason and disappeared in a winged chariot sent by her grandfather, the god Helios. Reproduction of a painting by an English pre-Raphaelite artist. 1868. Witchy Art Print.
