The Destruction of Leviathan is an engraving by Gustave Doré from 1865. It shows the biblical sea monster Leviathan in dark stormy waters, with God appearing above the clouds.

Leviathan is a huge creature mentioned in the Tanakh and the Old Testament. Over time, the name became a symbol of any enormous sea monster, as well as chaos, the primordial world, and ancient monstrous power. In this sense, Leviathan can be compared with figures such as the Midgard Serpent or Tiamat.
